A beautiful soul whose example is one for all the ladies of the world, is the daughter of Prophet Mohammad , known as Lady Fat ̄ima. Her name was chosen by Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى, and accustomed to her based on her moral excellence. She is also proof of Allah’s سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى ability to create a woman with such a stance.  She holds the highest stature of all women in piety, purity, chastity and knowledge. One whose eminence illustrates the passion and strength which humanity should attempt to resonate. She also had ties to both Immamte and Prophethood. Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا is known as one of the People of The Cloak and one of the fourteen infallibles in Shi’i faith.

Throughout Lady Fat ̄ima’s سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا childhood, she was subjected to witnessing the mistreatment which her father endured. During her childhood she also faced the loss of her beloved mother, Lady Khadijah and her valued uncle, Abu Talib.

When Lady Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا was of age, she was approached by many marriage proposals. She was highly recognized based on the admirable qualities she possessed. The one proposal which was accepted by the Holy Prophet ﷺ was that of Imam Ali عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ. The Imam  had several ties to the family of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, and was also known as a virtuous and kind being. The Prophet ﷺ mentioned one day, that had it not been for the birth of Ali عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ, Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا would have never found a suitable partner.

Lady Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا and Imam Ali عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ lived a life of simplicity yet exemplified  a beautiful marriage, one filled with the utmost love from both ends. Her admiration for her husband is also highly recognized as one of her more commendable traits. Their relationship started off in financial distress, and carried on to when they birthed their children. The children of Lady Fatimah سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا are as follows, Al-Hasan عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ, Al-Husayn عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ, Zaynab سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا Umm Kulthum سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا.

She lived only a little after her father, and passed away at the age of 18. The last year of her life was so harrowing, it was then known as the  ‘year of sorrow,’ where no one witnessed Lady Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا smile. The reasons for her pain were caused by various events, which sought to diminish and neglect  the credibility of the Prophet ﷺ and his progeny after his death. Leaving Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا and her family with the greatest of tests. Despite her short life span by the decree of God, her lifetime encompassed various illustrations of a perfect soul. She held true to her faith beyond it all.

Tasbih of Lady Fatima

One of the most prominent ways of the glorification of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى, is through a Dhikr passed down by the Prophet’s ﷺ to Lady Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا. Upon being so imperative on her duties of household chores, she was left exhausted one day. Imam Ali عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ had recommended that she speak to a father about a servant, to assist with these chores. Upon doing so, her father, the Holy Prophet ﷺ enriched her with something he mentioned as ‘better than a servant and a world with everything in it.’ This was referred to as the Tasbih, recited as follows { Allahu Akbar (34), Allhumdulillah (33), and Subhanallah (33) }. Thus after every prayer, Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا adhered to reciting this, and it follows to be known specifically as “Tasbih – e- Fat ̄ima”

Fadak

The land of Fadak was a gift given to Lady Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا, by her father, Prophet Mohammad ﷺ. It was located in Hijaz, a small distance from Medina. After the battle of Khaybar, the Holy Prophet ﷺ acquired the village with no means of violence. It was in fact offered to him by the residents on this land, claiming it was rightfully his. The land itself was enriched with Farms, Gardens and Palm Trees, and was of pureness only.

Usurpation of Fadak

After the demise of the Prophet, Lady Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا was burdened with many hardships. One of those hardships was the usurpation of Fadak. Abu Bakr b. Abi Quhafa felt entitled enough to swipe the land from Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا. Even after paper evidence that the land belongs to her, Umar b. al -khattab took the paper and instead tore it up. The turn of events caused her much distress. It was soon after  where Lady Fat ̄ima سَلَامُ ٱللَّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا delivered a sermon in the mosque of the Prophet. She questioned the companions for their silence to injustice and wrongdoing to the family of the prophet. This is known as the Fadakiyya Sermon.
