Mafātīḥ al-Jinān, also translated as the keys to heaven, is a book of Twelver Shi’a supplications by Shaykh Abbas Qummi. It includes various dua’s, Ziyara’s, daily, monthly, and occasional practices, as well as hadith from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w), the Imam’s, and renowned scholars. Some specific examples from the book are Dua al-Jawshin al-Kabir, the Prayer of the Prophet (s.a.w), the Prayer of Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s), Munajat of Imam Ali (a.s), and Dua al Kumayl, all of which are included in the first chapter of Mafātīḥ al-Jinān. The second chapter of the book outlines some of the yearly recommended acts as per the Islamic month, such as reciting Dua al-Iftitah in Ramadan and the recommended actions of Laylatul Qadr. The third chapter focuses on Ziyarat, starting with the Ziyarat of the Holy Prophet, followed by the Ziyarat of Bibi Fatima (a.s) and the 12 Imams. With this the chapter includes the manners of travel, rituals of ziyara, and the way in which to request permission for entering the holy shrines. In addition to these three chapters, the author, Shaykh Abbas Qummi, in his second edition of the book added 8 new pieces, which included the Dua of farewell for the month of Ramadan, the sermon of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Dua to recite after visiting the holy shrines, and the Dua of Imam Mahdi (a.s) during his occultation, amongst other added content.
